Certification of Trainees
IASTI provides, as a service to the trainees of its member institutes, three levels of certification in the Solution-Focused model.
The International Certificates of Solution Focused Practice
0. The proof of Initiate level training (This is a pre-certificate level)
Level 1: Solution-Focused Practitioner
Level 2: Advanced Solution-Focused Practitioner
Level 3: Master Solution-Focused Practitioner
Incorporating external training and supervision toward a certification
Until January 1, 2014, the IASTI member Institutes may (but are not obligated to) examine trainees who have had documented high quality training and supervision in the Solution-Focused model with an external trainer, and thus count this training and supervision toward the grounds for certification. Each member institute is trusted to ascertain that the trainee’s work reflects a high standard regarding the Solution-Focused model and corresponding client ethics.
All current IASTI Institutes can choose to retroactively certify former trainees at the Institute’s discretion, however this certification must be done prior to January 1, 2014. The current trainers at the member institutes are qualified trainers.
Initial trainee requirements of professional environment for acceptance in the certification program
To be eligible for a Solution-Focus certification, the trainee is required to have the ability to practice the Solution-Focused method in a professional environment (or an environment that is deemed equivalent by the training i\Institute), for example as a therapist, teacher, coach, counselor, or other professional work with clients who are in process of change regarding their psychological health, their relationships, their family, their employment or their carrier.
Requirements specific to the individual IASTI member institutes
The requirements for examination of the trainee may in addition to the criteria listed here (under Examination in the site menu) also include requirements specific to the individual IASTI institutes based on other professional standards, the Institute’s individual research and training tradition.
